Our mill
A steam engine, a chaff cutter, and ninety years of feeding the district.
In 1937, Stan Perry bought a steam engine and a W-Class chaff cutter and went farm to farm around Kyneton, cutting each family's year of chaff. Three generations later the mill is still ours, the paddocks are still ours, and the feed still comes out of the same town.

Stan Perry starts a travelling chaff-cutting run with a steam engine and a W-Class cutter.

A pickup baler joins the operation — cutting chaff and baling hay for local farms and Melbourne stores.

Perrys Chaff Mill is built on Edgecombe Road; the Market Street hay and grain store grows with it.
